Pacific Power & Systems Inc. is an electrical and communication contracting and services firm, helping clients for over 65 years with our expertise in industrial, maintenance, commercial, construction, network cabling, VOIP telephony and design build projects.

Pacific Power & Systems Inc. currently has openings in our Fairfield, CA location for the following full-time positions: Journeyman Electricians, Low Voltage Technicians and Service Technicians. Job descriptions and requirements are outlined below:

JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN

The ideal Journeyman Electrician will be:

  • Responsible for assembly, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment and wiring systems in commercial settings.
  • Able to install and energize electrical cabling, switchgear and fixtures
  • Responsible for preparing work area for installation of equipment.
  • Able to install (or help install) electrical components.
  • Knowledgeable of wiring and equipment as per code and job specification.
  • Comfortable installing raceway, conduit and cable tray systems, as well as troubleshooting electrical and control systems.
  • Able to read blueprints and electrical drawings, verify dimensions, alignments and clearances per drawings or plans and install as specified.
  • Secure and lock-up equipment after use.

Requirements:

  • A valid California State Certified General Electrician Card
  • 3+ years industrial, commercial and institutional electrical experience
  • A proven track record of delivering safe projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Building Codes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, squatting, walking and climbing a ladder
  • Journeyman Trade Certification in a related construction trade will be considered highly desirable.

Physical Demands:

The individual is required to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling, bending, walking, standing, extending and reaching to prepare and install electrical equipment and wiring. Frequent use of hands with dexterity is required to conduct specification reviews and takeoffs, and to operate hand, power and inspection tools and to install, move and position materials. Demonstrated ability to problem solve theoretical situations and manage multiple priorities in a time sensitive environment.

LOW VOLTAGE ELECTRICIANS

As a Low Voltage Technician focused on Industrial, Commercial and Institutional projects you will be:

  • Knowledgeable in installation and service of, cabling, hardware and pathways for voice and data horizontal/backbone systems; clock, intercom, cctv and catv systems; and asset tracking systems
  • Ideally experienced in Distributed Antenna, Cellular, Microwave, Nurse Call, Telemetry, RFID patient tracking
  • Licensed Fire Alarm experience; (optional but favored)

Requirements:

  • A current BICSI RCDD or Technician certificate and;
  • Current manufacture installer certificates and;
  • A working knowledge of design, layout, installation, testing and service of various low voltage systems.

Physical Demands:

Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain. Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses at all times), respirator when required. Able to work 8 -10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts. Includes crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, able to routinely lift heavy objects, in excess of 50 pounds, and pushing and pulling of objects is required. Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.

SERVICE ELECTRICIANS

As a successful candidate for this position, you will be:

  • Responsible for assembly, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment and wiring systems in institutional, commercial, and industrial settings.
  • Experienced in troubleshooting electrical problems and possess superior repair skills.
  • Comfortable working alone.
  • Knowledgeable of wiring and equipment as per code and job specification.
  • A great communicator with superior people and customer service skills.
  • Able to maintain an organized and well-ordered workspace; secure and lock-up equipment after use and maintain a professional appearance.

Requirements:

  • A valid General Electrician Card/Journeyman Electrician License
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, squatting, walking and climbing a ladder
  • 3+ years industrial, commercial and institutional electrical experience
  • A proven track record of addressing customer needs efficiently and safely.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Building Codes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Job requires physically demanding tasks such as lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling, bending, walking, standing, extending and reaching to prepare and install electrical equipment and wiring. May conduct work on ladders, scaffolds and/or roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures. Frequent use of hands with dexterity is required to conduct specification reviews and takeoffs, and to operate hand, power and inspection tools and to install, move and position materials. Demonstrated ability to problem solve theoretical situations and manage multiple priorities in a time sensitive environment.
